Finding Your Way Around the New CCA Website
On January 6, 2012 the Conference of Consulting Actuaries unveiled a revised website that provides several new and customizable features. Here's a quick overview of what you'll find:
The Dashboard - Your Personalized Starting Point
The Dashboard appears on the left-hand side of each page to provide you with immediate access to the following services :
- Contact Information, Member Status, and Designations (allowing you to update your information);
- Personal Profile;
- Opportunities (members only);
- Credit Tracking (includes your current credit totals);
- Committees (links to working areas for CCA committees in which you participate);
- Communities (links to working areas for CCA communities); and
- Certificates (links to certificates from past CCA events that you attended).
Log in through the Dashboard with your e-mail address and password (try the Request Lost Password feature even if you're not a CCA member).
Join - If You're Not a Member, Learn Why You Should Become One
The Join section provides background information about the Conference of Consulting Actuaries, including the online version of the CCA Membership Application.
Directory - Find a Consulting Actuary
The new Directory of Actuarial Consultants is a database of CCA members (with information populated from Personal Profiles) that allows users to find a consulting actuary based on name, company, location, practice area, type of firm, and scope of practice.
CPD/CE Opportunities - A Calendar of Upcoming Events
The CCA is recognized as having the highest-quality continuing education opportunities. This section provides a complete listing of upcoming opportunities along with icons allowing you to clearly note if the event is a meeting, seminar, audiocast, or webcast.
CPD/CE Archive - Past Events With Access to Handouts
CCA members now have access to an archive of past CCA-sponsored events detailing dates and topics of events, speakers, and handouts.
Credit Tracking - ActuarialCPD.org Comes Home
Since 2008, ActuarialCPD.org was the continuing education tracking tool of the CCA. The tool is now fully incorporated into the new CCA site and sports a new yet familiar interface. In addition, nonmembers who attend events starting in 2012 may view their credits earned from CCA events; however, full access to the tool is reserved for members only.
Communities - Discussion Groups for Common Interests
In addition to CCA membership, the CCA maintains three Communities where actuaries interact in a discussion forum to exchange ideas and work on specific issues:
- Public Plans Community;
- Healthcare Reform Community; and
- Smaller Actuarial Consulting Firm Community.
Members of these communities may access a calendar of upcoming activities and peruse a library of PDFs on a given topic.
Publications - News and Updates on CCA Activities
The Conference produces a wide variety of publications of interest to consulting actuaries, from brief news notes, to materials derived from our continuing education events, to a listing of members. Online editions of these publications are found in this section.
Governance - People and the Processes
The Governance section includes an overview of the CCA's organizational structure. While links to the Bylaws, Code of Professional Conduct, and other documents are available, there are also links to the volunteers whose service as Board members, Committee members, and liaisons provide a valuable service to the membership. If you would like to volunteer, you may do so using the Online Volunteer Form.
