I think it was the perfect combination of nature and nurture. Math always "clicked" very easily for me. Then when I was 8 years old, our house was hit by a tornado and I started asking a lot of questions about who was going to pay for it, which started my interest in insurance. To tie it all together, our next door neighbor was an actuary and he would always bring me his old actuarial magazines to read when I was in high school and college.

I love the inclusiveness of the community. From the first week that I joined in 2018, I've felt that there was a place for me a and a desire to hear my voice.

My nickname from my family growing up was "Pia Pi" because I was good at math from such a young age. Most of my family and friends call me every March 14th to say happy Pi day.

Becoming a mom and navigating being a working mom. I'm exhausted at the end of each day, but feel so fulfilled.

I went to the University of Georgia and triple majored in Statistics, Finance, and Risk Management & Insurance.

I define success in how happy somebody wakes up each day. What good is it to make the most money or be the smartest person in the room if you don't wake up happy and go to bed feeling fulfilled?

Get the exams done early while you're still in the habit of studying. And don't be afraid to ask questions!

I don't show up to a meeting without my pink TI-30XS. My dad started a company that distributed TI equipment so even from a early age, I would keep my TI-83 handy. After the actuarial exams, the TI-30XS seemed to find a permanent place in my purse.

I'd probably be a high school math teacher.

I love to travel, spend time with my family, and run.

It means that I have access to a community of people that I can collaborate with who are doing similar, relevant work.
